Ten Tutu Fellows attended the annual governance conference organized by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, which took place in Accra, Ghana, in November 2015. The theme of the 2015 conference was African urban dynamics. A central goal of the foundation is to put governance at the centre of any conversation on African development. It holds that effective governance and leadership are key to improving the quality of life of Africans.
This focus has made the conference a regular destination for Tutu Fellows, for whom the subject matter is of interest and relevance. Subject matter included engaging debate on African urbanisation and development by prominent African political and business leaders and academics and representatives from civil society.
Alumni and AFLI leadership speakers who attended included Mawuli Dake, Lai Yahaya, Ada Osakwe, Mokena Makeka who was a panelist along with Trevor Manuel and James Mwangi, Jay Naidoo, and Elsabeth Tedros. The conference provided valuable opportunities to network among Fellows from various years as well as with others.
