Ugandan-born activist the youngest African to be nominated
Tutu Fellow Victor Ochen (33), founder and director of the African Youth Initiative Network (AYINET) has been nominated for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize. A 2011 graduate of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellowship Programme, Victor has dedicated his life to rehabilitating victims of war by providing psycho-social support and life-saving healthcare.

2010 Tutu Fellow Robtel Pailey PhD is speaking out against corruption - whereever it may be found.
A Liberian academic, activist and author with a transnational mindset, Robtel claims that she “exists and thrives on three continents simultaneously.” She shares her story about growing up in Washington D.C. and a project to raise awareness among children about the scourge of corruption on the African continent.
She is the author of the award-winning anti-corruption children’s books, Gbagba and Jaadeh!. In this interview, she explains how corruption awareness needs to be taught early:

An entrepreneur who left his career in investment and private banking, Sam Mensah has gone on to create Kisua.com – an international e-tailer of contemporary African fashions and accessories for women. He shares his journey as a businessman following a passion and lessons learned as a leader taking an African brand global: “It’s one thing to have an ‘a-ha’ moment, but it’s quite another thing to give up the comfort of a good job.” His advice: get comfortable with the possibility of failure.

He taught us extraordinarily practical lessons about forgiveness, compassion and reconciliation.” The day he awarded South Africa’s national rugby team with the World Cup trophy wearing a Springbok jersey with the captain’s number on it was “…worth more than all the sermons we could preach about reconciliation.”

2015 Tutu Fellow Mosunmola Cynthia Umora told her TEDx audience Ife, Nigeria about how she was broke, in debt and being called a failure as a startup farmer and entrepreneur. Her advice: "Identify that reason, that purpose for which you have been created, and stick with it." It is the only thing that will get you through those periods when the road is tough.
She is a distinct type of farmer. For her, agriculture is a mainstay of the Nigerian economy and yet there is so little regard paid to it. Cynthia founded a company engaged in farming, food production, processing and distribution right out of college. The company has its flagship retail outlet under the Farmshoppe , a retail brand for freshly processed, organic farm produce.

Dr Tariro Makadzange is an infectious disease physician scientist. Her research training and career have focused on infectious diseases (primarily HIV infection and related opportunistic infections). Her current work focuses on understanding the immune correlates of HIV disease progression in perinatally infected children and adolescents, as well as the immunopathogenesis of cryptococcal disease in HIV infected adults.

Chetan Jeeva joined Investec in 2006 as a deal maker in the Structured and Leveraged Finance team responsible for originating and executing large leveraged and structured finance transactions primarily in South Africa. He has been involved in a number of landmark transactions in the SA Private Equity space.
